The TecSalud School of Medicine and Health Sciences (EMCS for its initials in Spanish) at Tecnológico de Monterrey hosted the annual Universitas 21 Health Sciences Group conference.

Different specialists at the conference addressed the importance the health sector has taken on for the general public and proposed strategies that should be considered and integrated to improve humanity’s quality of life from now on.

During the conference, well-known people from the health sector, including Dr. Guillermo Torre, Dr. Melchor Sánchez Mendiola, Dr. Rodrigo Mariño, Dr. Klaus Püschel, and Dr. Jorge E. Valdez García, addressed the main challenges faced by the world during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The world of medicine after COVID-19

According to Dr. Valdez, dean of TecSalud’s School of Medicine and Health Sciences, conference delegates had the opportunity to hear from different personalities in the scientific world on the subject of ‘Prevention, wellbeing and longevity in a post-COVID world.’

He also added that, thanks to this conference, members of the TecSalud School of Medicine and Health Sciences were able to learn firsthand about progress made around the world during this emergency.

“It’s of the utmost importance for us to participate alongside prestigious universities, not only because this places us on the world stage, but also because this type of initiative allows us to develop connections which will translate into further and more profound collaborations,” he said.

“To do so, we need to be present at conferences such as Universitas 21,” he added.

As Dr. Guillermo Torre, rector of TecSalud and vice president of Research at Tecnológico de Monterrey, explained: “In Mexico, Tecnológico de Monterrey has been a catalyst in providing interaction between government and private industry in order to generate important solutions to COVID-19.”

Additionally, he drew attention to TecSalud’s new vision: “We don’t want to see health as a problem that needs to be solved. Health has to change. We must become active participants in providing wellbeing and prevention, so that we can all live longer.”
