Tecnológico de Monterrey is university #187 in the world, according to the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2026.
In these rankings, the Tec is the #2 university in Mexico. Among private universities, it is #1 in the country and #29 in the world.
These rankings consist of 9 indicators. In this edition, the Tec is best positioned on the following indicators: Employment Outcomes (#52 in the world), Employer Reputation (#55 in the world), and Academic Reputation (#136 in the world).
The 2026 edition of the rankings evaluated over 8,467 higher education institutions from 106 countries, 49% more institutions than the previous year, from which 1,501 universities entered the rankings.
22 universities from Mexico appeared on the 2026 rankings, 10 fewer institutions than last year.
Tec among the top 200 universities in the world
David Garza, Executive President of the Tecnológico de Monterrey Education Group, recognized the efforts of the Tec community.
“We recognize those professors, researchers, students, and employees whose efforts and dedication are key to continuing to strengthen the academic excellence, research, and importance of our institution, which enables us to ratify our position among the top 200 universities in the world.”

Juan Pablo Murra, Rector of Tecnológico de Monterrey, mentioned its commitment to continue working on education of excellence, applied research, and social impact projects that transform the lives of people and communities.

Feniosky Peña-Mora, Executive Vice President of Research and Dean of the School of Engineering and Sciences, highlighted that Tec de Monterrey’s presence in the top 200 of the QS World University Rankings 2026 reflects sustained progress on its institutional strategy in science, technology, and innovation.
“With over 1,100 researchers across 6 Schools, 3 Institutes, and 6 Research Centers, we’re generating knowledge that affects public policy, industrial development, and social wellbeing. This recognition consolidates the Tec as a key stakeholder in the global research ecosystem and making an impact from Latin America,” said Peña.

This is Tec de Monterrey’s best score, placing it at 55th place in the world.

In the category of Academic Reputation, the institution was ranked 136th in the world.
