A new conversation series, aimed at revealing the human side of the executives leading the institutions of the Tecnológico de Monterrey Education Group, has been launched under the title: The World Behind the Leader.
The conversation series is hosted by David Garza, Executive President of the Education Group, and is available on its social media channels, YouTube, and Live.Tec.
“We interact with people whose stories are worth knowing. That’s the origin of this program: conversations about what’s rarely discussed. It’s about difficult decisions, setbacks that turned into learning experiences, and personal reasons behind an individual’s career path. In order to understand leadership, you have to know the person,” said Garza.
The World Behind the Leader shows how an institution is shaped—by people with doubts and convictions, and through key moments. It also showcases the diversity of leadership styles, highlighting how individuals lead with approachability, purpose, efficiency, and a commitment to impact.
“It’s a space where we can learn about the stories, lessons, vision, and inspiration of people in leadership roles, but above all, get to know the human side of these leaders,” said Garza.

Premiere: Beyond Medicine and Leadership (Episode 1)
In the first episode, Garza speaks with Guillermo Torre Amione, Rector of TecSalud, and explores the defining moments of his career and his approach to leadership.
In the conversation, Torre Amione shares his thoughts on medical advancements and how they have transformed the way patients are cared for. However, he confirms that behind that technology, the key to the profession remains its people.
Torre Amione reflects on his experiences with decision-making when lives are at risk: from handling complex medical cases to supporting families during difficult times.
Undoubtedly, one of the most significant challenges that put his leadership capabilities to the test was the COVID-19 pandemic, during which healthcare teams had to respond to a situation they had not faced before.
The conversation also touches upon research aimed at addressing specific challenges facing the country, and how projects such as OriGen and the Obesity Research Institute are part of his vision for translating science into solutions that can generate impact.
Throughout his career, the cardiologist has trained researchers: an approach to leadership whose impact can also be measured by the success of the individuals he helps to train.
Through stories about medicine, science, complex decisions, and personal experiences, the conversation reveals Dr. Guillermo Torre beyond his leadership role.
