The Monterrey International Book Fair (FIL) which will take place from October 10 to 18, will feature Nobel Prize in Literature laureate Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio and Princess of Asturias Award for Literature recipient Emmanuel Carrère, as well as other national and international writers.
El Colegio Nacional will be the guest of honor at the 34th event, which will be organized by Tecnológico de Monterreyand continue to work towards its mission, said Carmen Junco, president of the FIL.
“To share ideas that accompany, challenge, and move people, and that stay with them long after the fair.
“(The fair) has found its own voice: a voice deeply rooted in the region, proud of its identity, yet one which is open to the world,” noted Junco.
FIL 2026 will offer free admission and feature book sales, presentations, lectures, meet-and-greets, and workshops for all ages, as well as a range of other activities.

Participation from El Colegio Nacional
El Colegio Nacional, a public institution dedicated to disseminating scientific, artistic, and humanistic knowledge, will host 14 key activities at FIL 2026.
Participating in these events will be Enrique Krauze, presenting works by Daniel Cossío Villegas, and Juan Villoro, presenting an edition of The Little Prince translated by his father, Luis Villoro, with a prologue written by himself.
Cristina Rivera Garza will present her book Lo roto precede a lo entero, a collection of 125 “infra-essays” by the Pulitzer Prize winner.
“We hope that participation by El Colegio Nacional serves as a cause for celebration for all of you, as well as an opportunity to move forward together through reflection on, and the enjoyment of, reading,” said Teresa Vicencio, Administrative Secretary ofEl Colegio Nacional.

Literary diversity
At the FIL 2026 presentation held on Monterrey campus, content coordinator Rafael García announced that the inaugural address would be delivered by Alberto Manguel, an Argentine writer and essayist.
At the book fair, there will be space for poetry, but also for science fiction and philosophy, he noted.
The authors participating in the fair include Nobel Prize in Literature laureate Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio, who will present his book Tres entradas a México, in which he explores the lives and works of Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, Juan Rulfo, and Luis González y González.
Princess of Asturias Award for Literature laureate Emmanuel Carrère will present his book Koljós, an autobiographical work focused on his mother.

Gioconda Belli, Janne Teller, Rita Dove, and Hugo Mujica are some of the other writers who be present, as well asDavid Toscana, a Tec graduate and winner of the Alfaguara Novel Prize.
The Monterrey native will present his award-winning work, El ejército ciego.
Tec de Monterrey will host events such as A Thousand Forms of the Book featuring actor Daniel Giménez Cacho, as well as Lucha Libro and events organized by the Alfonso Reyes Chair.
“It’s a fair that welcomes all readers, but we’re also increasingly seeking to feature high-caliber authors from various countries.
“We believe that the city and the reading public of Nuevo León deserve a great fair; they deserve to have access to these authors,” remarked Henoc de Santiago, director of theFIL.
Also present at the FIL presentation were Mario Adrián Flores, Vice President of Monterrey Region and General Director of the Monterrey campus, and Judith Ruiz Godoy, Dean of the School of Humanities and Education.
The Children’s Pavilion will continue the theme of sustainability, now focusing on air, explained Melissa Segura, Nuevo León’sSecretary of Culture.
Workshops and talks will be held to focus on caring for the air and the importance of this element for living beings.
There will be 900 sessions, 12 different types of workshops, and more than 60 performances of 5 children’s shows.
Several state organizations will participate in these workshops, which focus on early childhood through the sixth grade of elementary school.
This is just a sample of what the Monterrey International Book Fair has in store for its 34th edition, which will take place at the Cintermex exhibition center.
